FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Over the past three decades, Martin City Melodrama & Vaudeville Co. has been bringing the Kansas City area many unique theatrical stage productions. Recently a hit program called “Top Banana” was introduced. It is aimed to enable persons with “Special Needs” an opportunity to perform on stage.
They continue to produce classic Melodrama, Vaudeville acts, quality original adaptations of literary classics, musical revues, fractured fairy tale operettas for junior audiences, classes, workshops and camps. In order to sustain these programs MCMVCo needs community support. Not only do they want patrons to come see the shows, but also to voluntarily contribute to the various productions, in particular the “Top Banana.”
As a “Fun-Raiser” event for MCMVCo, the “KC Dixieland Band” will perform a benefit concert on Friday, June 8, 2018, beginning at 7:30 pm. This will be an opportunity for the community to be entertained by music from a century-old era. “Dixieland” originated in the early 1900s, and is a unique style of jazz that features a load of improvisation by talented soloists. There will be energetic tunes along with slower-beat, “blues” tunes. The evening will include a cameo performance by a “Top Banana!”
Reservations are essential as seating is limited. Call 913-642-7576. There is no charge for admission. Also liquid refreshments will be available at the cash bar! MCMVCo is located at 702 Blue Ridge Boulevard in Grandview, MO.
